ALS, AUGIS & BOMSS have recognised for some time the need for a national reporting database for bariatric surgery. It is common ground that this is in the best interests of patients and therefore of surgeons and of the three societies.

ALS has committed considerable effort and investment to the creation of such a database. BOMSS and AUGIS recognise this achievement and welcome the opportunity to manage this database in equal partnership with ALS as

National Bariatric Surgery Registry (NBSR)

Careful negotiations have resulted in an excellent agreement which is supported by the Councils of all three societies and recognises their strengths. The NBSR will be managed by a joint committee representing the three collaborators equally and chaired by a BOMSS representative.

All three societies believe the NBSR will flourish under this structure and urge your support.
